| (Lighter and heavier material can be used) The 12 gauge mild steel is approx 1/8" thick (.112 in.) and weighs 4.375 lbs per sq ft. It is a very sturdy and is recommended for pieces that will be used with hooks such as coat racks. We also make most of our wall art from this stock. The 16 gauge mild steel is approx 1/16" thick (.065) and weighs 2.5 lbs per sq ft. This is lighter than 12 gauge and recommended for yard art because of its flexibility and for wall art that you will want to hang from picture hooks/nails instead of a heavier fastener. Both gauges will last a lifetime! |
